Rooster Backsplash Tile / Mural
420mm x 420mm
Traditionally in the Portuguese culture, the rooster symbol in the home is known for bringing good luck to the occupants. In other cultures, the rooster was considered to be an exotic animal by the ancient Greeks - an animal with valour that even lions were afraid of! In the cult of Mithras, the rooster was a symbol of divine light and guardianship against evil. For Central Europe, the rooster was also believed to ward off evil and at the first crowing of the rooster, the devil would flee.
What we like best is the Talmud version that speaks of learning courtesy to one's mate - when a rooster finds something good to eat, he calls his hens to eat first!!

Fleur Backsplash Tile / Mural
420mm x 420mm

The Fleur De Lis Lily was claimed to have sprung from the tears of Eve as she left the Garden of Eden. From it's earliest records in ancient Greece, the Fleur de Lis has been a symbol of purity. Other explanations include those that the symbol was born from the image of a dove descending representing the Holy Ghost. The French modern version of this symbol (where it was reduced to three 'leaves') was commanded by Charles V in 1376. There are even records from 1611 that depict that the Fleur de Lis is is a distortion of the outline of a toad. Whatever the exact origin and explanation of this symbol, the most probable is that the Lily (now called an Iris) that grows on the banks of the Lys reveals clearly the 3 leaved symbol we know today when dried and pressed

Rose Backsplash Tile / Mural
420mm x 420mm
According to Greek mythology, the rose is the flower of love. Endowed with beauty, charm, joy and sweet scent, it was created by the Greek goddess of flowers out of a lifeless body of a nymph.
Roman legend tells of a maiden so beautiful that she was pursued
by many suitors. She took refuge in the temple of the goddess Diana
who became jealous. When the suitors broke down her temple gates to
get near their beloved maiden, she turned the maiden into a rose and
her suitors into thorns.
This tile features soft textured travertine supporting the centered medallion of a beautiful rose. Rich in texture and detail, the 'Rustic Rose' lends itself to rustic and traditional decor

Kitchen
Tile Backsplash & Mural Installation.
No matter what type or style of kitchen tile backsplash / mural you choose,
you need to keep some important things in mind.
Firstly, you must decide on the extent of your project. Are you planning on doing a full blown remodel, or just some minor changes to spice things up? If you're just making some minor changes to your kitchen, then make sure you keep your kitchen fixtures in mind. Use your current fixtures to help you select the right kitchen tile backsplash design. The last thing you want is to have a huge kitchen tile backsplash that doesn't go with anything, or a tiny one that looks out of place in a large kitchen.
Kitchen tile backsplash and focal features accentuates the beauty of your walls and surrounding tiles immensely. Remember that for the best effect, choose a colour that compliments your surrounding tiles and does not match exactly. As this is a focal feature, you want to enhance and draw your eye to the feature rather than to attempt to blend it in with the remainder of the wall tiles. Installing your kitchen backsplash / focal feature is neither a time-consuming, nor a pricey affair. The tiling job in reality is so interesting that you should set about it on your own. Some simple supplies like tape measure, level, sand paper, tile-cutters, serrated trowel, mastic adhesive, grout and a little dedication are all that you will require to accomplish the tiling job.
Before you go ahead with you tile installation, turn off the power-supply to the area and remove electrical outlet covers. Roughen the wall/surface with the help of sand paper and dust/wash the area with warm water. Once the groundwork is done, spread a thin layer of the mastic adhesive at the base-centre of the backsplash tile and place the first tile. Check level for accuracy. Thereafter place the spacers in the corners after checking and crosschecking with level and measuring tape for flawless tile-placement, even cutting tiles (marking them with cutters and cutting them) to match the desired tile-level. With the baseline ready, you will have your reference line ready. You will hardly experience any difficulty rounding off the tile-fixing job. Just go on spreading adhesive, cut the tile to required shape and size and fix it. Remove every trace of extra adhesive with a damp cloth. The next step is all about applying grout between the tiles. You can apply grout with a rubber float, wiping away excess grout with a damp cloth and smoothen the tile grout joints with a round-stick.
This brings your kitchen tile backsplash / mural tiling program to an end. Pick up a dry, clean cloth and polish-off the tiled area to reveal the artwork in all its glamour.
Tile kitchen backsplashes and murals are really easy
to maintain and clean, but that doesn't mean that you can permanently hit
the snooze button. You should be cleaning your tiles at least once a week,
and by cleaning this means simply wiping the tiled backsplash down with
a moist towel.
